What changed in NTA after disturbances in NEET UG 2024, Education Minister told

NTA NEET Exam: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan shared many important things related to NEET-UG, JEE, CUET and National Testing Agency (NTA) in the Conclave of a private TV channel. He said that the government is fully committed to maintain transparency and fairness in these competitive examinations. The government has a zero tolerance policy regarding any disturbance in the examination and for this a large -scale improvements are being made in NTA.

He informed that this year, more than 22 lakh students appeared in the examination across the country, 12 lakh for JEE and about 15 lakh students for CUET. Successful conduct of such a large number of examinations is a big challenge in itself. The minister said that some challenges had come up in the past years, special committees were formed and corrective steps were taken to resolve.

Railway model being implemented in NTA

Taking seriously the concerns of irregularities in NEET exam, Dharmendra Pradhan said that when there are such big examinations in a big country, there may be arranged challenges. But the government is completely clear that there will be no compromise with the sanctity of the examination. Referring to the administrative reforms, he said that keeping the officers for a long time in the same post increases the possibility of disturbances. For this reason, first structural changes were made in the Railway Recruitment Board, and now the same model is being restructured in NTA.

The responsibility of NTA to the Secretary level officer

The minister informed that earlier the NTA was led by Joint Secretary or Additional Secretary level officer, but now a senior officer of a secretary level has been given the responsibility. The work of developing the NTA as a strong, accountable and technology-based institution is going on fast so that there is no irregularity in future and the fairness of examinations remains.
