The latest Macs based on supported Intels that will receive macOS TAHOE include the following models: MacBook Pro (16 inches, 2019), MacBook Pro (13 inches, 2020, four Thunderbolt 3 doors), iMac (27 inches, 2020) and Mac Pro (2019). This means that if you have one of these Macs, you will still have access to all the features of the update later this autumn when macOS Tahoe is launched. The only exception is that everything based on Apple Intelligence will not be available, since these characteristics are limited only to Apple silicon machines.
Five years have passed since the start of the transition from Intel to Apple Silicon. At the moment, Apple said That “would continue to support and release new versions of Macos for Mac based on Intel for the years to come”. Macs based on the oldest Intel in 2019 have already stopped receiving software updates, and it is now the time for the latest generation of models to be removed from the list.
Fortunately, Apple will provide security updates for these Intel -based Macs for another three years. It is rather solid for machines that are already more than five years old.
I have already recommended buyers who buy Intel -based Macs for years. The leap from the Intel Macs to the initial Macs is also a big leap in terms of performance and battery life, although I am sure that some people will have been seduced by the ultra-control prices of Mac Intel in recent years. Now we know with certainty where the end of the road is located, which is hoped will convince some to buy at least one M1 MacBook Air.
Apple will also take place Rosetta, the company emulation layer for the management of non -native apps on Apple Silicon. It was fundamental for the success of Apple’s first ones in the passage to their chips. For something different from the old games, the software provided by Apple will be available only through MacOS 26 and Macos 27. More than anything else, it is another way for Apple to encourage developers to finish the transition of their apps to perform natively on Apple Silicon.
