The Walt Disney Company has started another lap of layoffs. As part of the new falling round, the company is shooting hundreds of employees globally. The company has announced that layoffs are part of the ongoing strategic restructuring which aims to simplify operations and rotate towards high growth areas in particular streaming. The last wave of cuts has influenced various departments including cinematographic and television marketing functions, television advertising, casting, development and company funding.
As reported by Business Insider, the last round of layoffs is part of the largest initiative to reduce the costs of the company led by the CEO of the Disney Bob Iger. Disney has decided to save $ 7.5 billion of expenses and these layoffs are part of the same level. Until now the company has shot about 7000 employees. The report also shows that layoffs have focused on rebalancing resources and the company is also planning to take people in products and technologies. The report also suggests that the company has fired dependent on several teams and has not eliminated a complete team. This means that Disney is working on a more surgical approach to the rebelness of talents and resources. According to reports, the employees concerned were informed of the decision.
This new laying round follows the previous working cuts in March 2025, when Disney has reduced almost 200 roles to the ABC News and its division of Entertainment Networks.
Disney fired hundreds of employees
At the beginning of this month, Disney fired hundreds of employees of various departments. As reported by the BBC, the professionals of the film, the television and financial departments are influenced in this new lap of layoffs. The latter move marks a continuation of the wider renovation efforts of the company aimed at simplifying operations and achieving costs efficiency.
“As our sector turns to a quick pace, we continue to evaluate the ways to efficiently manage our activities while feeding the cutting -edge creativity and innovation that consumers appreciate and expect from Disney,” said a Disney spokesman to the BBC.
“We were surgical in our approach to minimize the number of affected employees,” added the spokesperson.
