UPSC Result 2025 Date: Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) successfully conducted the Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2025 on 25 May. Now lakhs of candidates are waiting for the announcement of the result across the country. Based on the experience of previous years, it is expected that UPSC can declare the results in the coming days.
More than 10 lakh candidates took the exam, competition for only 979 posts
This year 979 vacant posts have been declared, while more than 10 lakh candidates appeared in the examination. Usually UPSC selects 12 to 14 times more candidates than the number of seats available for the main examination. On this basis, it is estimated that this time about 13,000 to 14,000 candidates can be selected for the main examination after prelims.
What do the trends of previous years say? How long can the result come?
In the last 5 years, UPSC has released the results within 15 to 19 days of the prelims examination.

According to these data, the result is declared within 17 days on an average. If UPSC follows this pattern, the result of CSE Prelims 2025 is likely to come from 9 June to 15 June 2025. UPSC never declares the date of the result in advance. The result is released only in PDF format on the official website.
What happens after the result? Main exam preparation time starts
Candidates whose name comes in prelims results should start preparing for the main examination. This exam is the second stage of UPSC, which contains many papers of descriptive type. This year’s main examination is proposed on 22 August 2025. Candidates who are successful in the main examination will be called for the third and final stages – interview (personality test). After this, the final merit list is released, on the basis of which service allocation is done.
