The second Salim’s Salim game, Dead takeIt is a story of Hollywood, ambition and exploitation, dressed in a horror game that targeted the problems of its sector, from corruption to the use of artificial intelligence. “Hollywood is pure horror,” says Salim.
Dead take It is a detention departure from his debut game, Tales of Kenzera: Zau. Where Zau tell a vibrant and felt story about pain, Dead take It is a psychological thriller set in the dark rooms of a Hollywood home. After his friend Vinny has disappeared, the actor in difficulty chase breaks in the house of the hottest director in the sector, Duke Cain, looking for clues. The game is an escape room due to domestic invasion; The puzzles of the room by room unlocks more areas of the house, whether this means digging through bedrooms and wardrobes or navigating in a swimming pool. Duke’s domain is scattered with clues on a lost child and a failed marriage, together with suggestions on what is willing to push the actors in his films.
Salim compares to write the game to an exorcism. “Listen to these stories,” says whispers on abuse and bad behavior. “It is horrible. So play a game that explores that it seemed” oh fucking “for industry and the car. It is really crazy with what people go away, the amount of toxicity that exists at the sector level.” Dead take It allows players to put together this type of stories, just like you would do in real life, through E -mail, notes and context. An actress captured in a scandal similar to a weather. A director who puts his actors against each other or pushes them beyond their limits.
During their research, the players find flash units containing video clips of the actors of the game. Salim made the unusual choice to make these scenes work as movies in real life instead of animation. Although the use of the full-motor video in the games has enjoyed a new popularity, thanks to titles such as Immortality, It is still unusual. Ben Starr (Final Fantasy XVI, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33) and Neil Newbon (Baldur’s Gate 3, Everything date) Act as the protagonists of the game, Chase and Vinny. Both actors have worked for years, but only recently they had the spotlight, thanks to more important roles in popular games. “They are fucking good and I want to prove it, rather than putting them behind a character,” says Salim.
As a creative professional, there is a lot to not love for Salim for the use of the AI – and certainly does not like much – but a fear stands out for him: “bastard” images or videos in ways that actors and artists have no control. “I think it’s disturbing and disgusting,” he says. “The last thing I want is that someone generates a horrible image of myself and then my daughter who stumbled on it while we are older. It would be horrible.”
