If you choose to visit a retail Audiology Center, whether it is a small shop in a shopping center or a more official medical office, you will start the process with a medical exam in which Audiology will physically check your ears and therefore test the hearing in a specialized room. This hearing test takes about 15 minutes and involves listening to pings played at different frequencies and volumes. Once completed, the audiologist uses it to create an hearing map called audiogram, which in turn is used to program the prescription hearing aids that, apparently, the audiologist will sell you later. If you choose to give up this process and buy high -end hearing aids from a retail sales channel, you will lose the physical examination, but you will probably still have access to an hearing test, delivered online or via an app. With these tests, buy your selected hearing aids first. Once you mounted them in the ears, you perform such a type of test to program them, with the pings delivered through the aid you have just purchased. The resulting audiogram is often surprisingly accurate compared to one created by an audiologist. And as prescription aid, hearing aid companies often have an audiologist for staff capable of modifying the settings over time remotely.
Many less expensive hearing aids – with the price level of $ 300 – usually do not include hearing test technology like this, or if they do, can exist in a more limited way. The user is left to their devices to program them as they are pleased.
