The panorama of electric vehicles of India presented a mixed picture in July. While electric passenger vehicles (Epv) accelerated in two -digit growth territory, the two electric wheels (E2W) stumbled in the midst of deficiencies of raw materials and geopolitical uncertainties.According to the data issued by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (Fada), retail sales E2W dropped by 2.26 percent month on month (mother), with 102,973 units sold in July, compared to 105,276 June units. The fall comes after a constant increase of 5 % in June, mentioning the emerging challenges on the offer side and on the market.
Winds against E2Ws
Tvs Motor maintained the first place but recorded a 12.03 percent mother’s decline, selling 22,256 units in July against 25,300 units in June. Bajaj Auto followed a fall of 14.54 percent, since sales dropped to 19,683 units of 23,032 units of the previous month.

Rajiv Bajaj, CEO, recently reported the unavailability of rare earth materials as a serious concern. The production had already been halved in July and could descend to zero in August if supply problems persist. However, this will not happen as Bajaj Auto has found alternative supply options that will help him stabbing the crisis. Ola Electric, who reconstructed its position on the market, saw a drop in 11.58 percent of sales with 17,852 units, decreasing compared to 20,190 June units. Ather Energy recorded healthy growth of 11.88 percent with 16,251 units sold. Meanwhile, Hero Motocorp has recorded a significant 36.95 percent increase, selling 10,501 units. His arm EV, Vida, recorded his higher monthly sales with 11,226 units.
Epvs post a robust growth

The company is betting big for its Harrier Ev just launched to support this advantage. Tata Motors CFO PB Balaji confirmed that there has been no impact on the production of EV due to the constraints of rare earth material, and the company is proactively exploring alternative sources. JSW MG Motor India also reported a strong July, with a growth of 28.12 percent supported by the success of its MG Comet and Mg Windsor models. Mahindra and Mahindra, while maintaining his third place, saw sales drop by 6.4 percent to 2,835 units. Despite the excitement for new launches such as Xuv 9e and Be 6, the brand is witnessing a slowdown in this space.
Hyundai Motor India, focusing on his Crete EV and on the Ioniq 5 Premium, sold 613 units in July, marking an increase of 19.73 percent, although the volumes remain significantly lower than the main contenders.
In the meantime, Ballo Della China thought in the top five lists that sold 459 units even if this was 3.57 percent compared to the previous month.
To summarize, while Legacy players continue to hold strong positions in both categories E2W and Epv, the two -wheeled segment is increasingly vulnerable to the interruptions on the offer side.
