Justice BV Nagratna was born on 30 October 1962 in Bengaluru. His father Justice E.S. CJI is appointed in India on the basis of seniority. Justice Abhay Srinivas Oka has retired in the top-5 senior judges of the Supreme Court after retiring on 23 May 2025. On this basis, she will become the 50th CJI of the country on 11 September 2027 and will hold the post till 29 October 2027.
