Special 17 NDA First Women Cadets Batch Passing Out Parade 30th May. Special 17: For the first time, 17 women cadets will be passout with NDA, history will be made on this day

Special 17: The first batch of 17 women cadets in the National Defense Academy (NDA) is going to pass out. The passing out parade (POP) of the 148th course will be on June 30. This is the first time in history that 17 female cadets with 300 male cadets will be graduated from NDA. Passing out of NDA, these specials will join as officers in 17 Indian Army, Air Force and Navy.

These women cadets joined NDA in June 2022 after the Supreme Court’s decisions in 2021. Some of these women cadets shared their three -year experience in the NDA on Friday.

Family’s first army officer

NDA Cadet Ishita Sharma told the Times of India that she comes from non -military background. His parents work in the corporate sector. His brother is an IT professional. Ishita told that when the doors of NDA were opened to women, she was doing BA in Economics. He immediately applied for NDA.

He also shared his experience about tuff physical training, military routine academy in this three -year journey of NDA. He said that after spending three years here, I can say with confidence that my personality has been completely transformed. He obtained many achievements during this period. Ishita was appointed Honorary Division Cadet Captain for outstanding performance.

Academy breaks first, then adds

NDA Cadet Harsimran Kaur said that I come from the family background with armed forces. My father was a sergeant in the Indian Army. Grandpa was also in the army. Harsimran said that I wanted to start my career early in defense, so chose NDA.

She says that many challenges came during three years of training. But in English there is a saying that Academy First Brex You, Den Max U. That is, the academy first breaks you and then makes it. Strict physical training sessions, drills and studies, all these have been designed to develop qualifications like the officer within you.

NDA is in the blood of Sriti Daksha

Another cadet Shriti Daksha said that NDA is in her blood. His father is out of NDA. He is a retired officer from the Air Force. Sriti’s sister is also in the Indian Air Force. He said that in 2021, when the Supreme Court opened the doors of NDA for women, I took advantage of the opportunity. When we came here initially, different washrooms and squadrons were already made. Initially it was placed in the respective squadron with male cadets.

126 women in NDA so far

Minister of State for Defense Sanjay Seth had told in March 2025 that since 2022, a total of 126 women have joined NDA. 121 of them are currently taking training. Five resigned.
