Loewe characterized the Citrea fabric, created by Pyratex and Orange Fiber, in his Ibiza 2025 collection by Paula. Made of Sicilian citrus citrus zerbone, sustainable fiber is combined with wooden pulp to produce Lyocell thread in orange fiber tences limited in limited edition. Completely traceable and European, the fabric reflects a new vision of the sustainability of the luxury fusion with innovation.
The innovation of the fabric derives from the abundant citrus waste generated in Italy, over 700,000 tons of orange peels discarded every year after the extraction of the juice. This agri -food refusal is collected wet or dried in the sun in Sicily, thoroughly clean and elaborated to extract the cellulose.
The resulting fiber is combined with wooden pulp using a low impact method similar to the production of Tencel, resulting in a sustainable Lyocell wire branded as a teence limited edition orange fiber.
Once produced, the thread is made to Italy and transported to Portugal, where it is knitted and finished by Pyratex. The result is a 100 % traceable fabric produced entirely in Europe, where citrus agri -food waste effectively replace part of the virgin wood pulp.
“The collection of Citrea Pyratex fabrics, focused on the reuse of agricultural waste of citrus fruits, aligns with our Spanish and Mediterranean identity. It represents a new concept of luxury, based on the harmony between sustainability and technological innovation,” said Pyratex in a LinkedIn post.
