Skoda to expand the used Biz, suspend the sales network to double sales this year, and Brandequity

Skoda car Czech is trying to increase its used car business, enter the methane segment and expand the sales network as it aims to double the volumes in the Indian market this year, according to a company manager.The car manufacturer, which last year sold about 36,000 units in the country, provides that its SUV portfolio, which now includes a compact SUV, to push the volume of sales and the market share in the country.

“We are looking for more than twice our volumes this year. Our compact SUV will play a significant role and in parallel we are also expanding our sales network. Furthermore, we are also rationalizing our product mix,” the director of the Skoda Auto India Ashish GUPTA brand said to PTI.

He observed that the company ended last year with a market share of the background which has now grown to about 1.8 % of the segment of domestic passenger vehicles. “We expect it to be between 2.5-3 percent by the end of this year,” said GUPTA.

He observed that the company aims to finish the current year with about 350 stores of 296 points of contact throughout the country.

GUPTA observed that from an 11th ranking in the passenger vehicle segment, the company has now improved its position to the 7th.

“We would like to cling to this position. Kylaq will play a fundamental role in the company’s growth history,” he observed.

GUPTA said that, to increase volumes, Skoda will reduce its activity used this year, with attention to many buyers for the first time by the semi -urban areas to enter its turn.

“If you want to grow the new automotive activity, it is necessary to make its activity used very strong … at this moment almost 80 % of our structures are equipped to manage used certified cars. Our network currently does about 3,000 cars per year … Idea is to reduce it almost three times this end of this year,” said Gupta.

He observed that currently 60-65 percent of the company’s sales network is now based on semi-urban areas.

To the question of the company’s plans to introduce an EV in the internal market, GUPTA has said that the car manufacturer is trying to launch a localized product.

Entering the methane segment, he said: “If we have to maintain relevance in the market share, we will have to evaluate various engine options and methane is certainly one of these”.

However, he did not offer a temporal sequence for incursion to the segment.
