The Uttar Pradesh Anti Terrorism Squad (UP ATS) has arrested a person from Varanasi in a major anti -terrorism campaign, who was allegedly spying for Pakistan. The accused named Tufail allegedly sent sensitive and confidential information about India to Pakistan. It is believed that Tufail, a resident of Varanasi, was in touch with many Pakistani citizens and sharing intelligence, which could threaten national security.
During the investigation, it was revealed that Tufail was allegedly sharing pictures of strategic places including Rajghat, Namo Ghat, Gyanvapi, railway station and even the Red Fort with Pakistani citizens. Apart from this, he was also active in some WhatsApp group, where he used to share videos of Tehreek-e-Labback leader Maulana Saad Rizvi. Saad Rizvi is an extremist.
Officials found that he also spread inflammatory messages, called upon the Babri Masjid to avenge and encouraged the implementation of Sharia law.
The alleged detective is said to be involved in circulating the WhatsApp group link in Varanasi, which served as a link between the local people and the Pakistani network.
She was also in contact with a Pakistani woman named Nafisa, whose husband is reportedly stationed in the Pakistani Army. Tufail is believed to be in touch with around 600 Pakistanis.
UP ATS is currently investigating Tufail’s activities and networks. This development highlights increasing concerns over radical publicity being spread through digital espionage and social media platforms.
