Power cuts in India are not a big deal, but this is a very big thing in the US, especially when the American space agency ‘NASA’ (NASA) has to face the problem. On this Tuesday, July 25, electricity went on in NASA’s Bielding in Houston, USA. Due to this, the communication between the International Space Station (ISS) and the mission control was interrupted. That is, for some time, the 7 passengers present in the space had lost contact with the earth. According to news agency AP report, NASA had to go to the backup control system for the first time due to a sudden power cut. The power failure disrupted the command, telemetry and audio communication with the ISS of Mission Control.

The incident occurred during an upgrading project at Johnson Space Center in Houston. The astronauts were informed about the whole matter with the help of the Russian Communication System, so that astronauts on ISS should not be disturbed.

The report quoted NASA as saying that there was no threat to astronauts and ISS. Communication was reinstated again in 90 minutes with the help of a backup control system. NASA says that the problem was not the ISS, but a malfunction on the ground. No crew members or spacecraft were threatened.

NASA has a backup control system to deal with such situations. However, this was the first time that the backup control system had to be taken help. This system has been prepared for the time when NASA building has to be closed due to bad weather. Although the backup system had to be started for the first time, that too due to electricity going. NASA has prepared its backup control system hundreds of kilometers from Houston.

What is ISS

400 km above the earth is stationed in space- International Space Station (ISS). It is a joint project of many countries, including the US and Russia. A team of astronauts is always deployed on the ISS and completes science related experiments and other works.
