Apart from peak time, i.e. from 10 am to 1 pm and from 5 pm to 9:30 pm, services like balance checks can remain partially closed or Limited Access during these hours. Similarly, automatic payments like UPI Autopay features, such as subscription, EMI or SIP, will now be processed only in non-time time.
NPCI says that these decisions have been taken keeping in mind the stability and smooth operation of the network. In the last few months, the transaction volume on UPI has gained tremendous lead, and this is why it has become necessary to protect the system from unnecessary load. If every user checks the balance 100 times a day, then it has a direct impact on the performance of the network.
However, these limits will apply only to some basic services. The facility like sending money, receiving or scanning the QR code will continue to work as before. But secondary features like balance check, autope are being reduced slightly to make the UPI network more strong and reliable.
