NEP 2025: Apprenticeship compulsory in higher education, students to practical experience.

NEP 2025: A big change is going to happen in the country’s higher education system under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Now during graduation studies, apprenticeship i.e. practical training will be made mandatory. This system will be implemented in all universities and colleges from the academic session 2025-26. The objective of this initiative is to connect students with the industry and give practical experience, so that they can be ready for better employment in future.

Under this new system, students doing a three -year degree program will have to appoint in the industry for at least one and maximum three semester. At the same time, it will be mandatory for the students who have a four -year degree program to take this experience for two to four semester. During this time, they will also be given 10 credit marks, which will be added to their degree. With this, students will get the experience of the world of employment along with studies.

Triple agreement

A triple agreement has been arranged to successfully implement the apprenticeship program. In this, there will be an agreement between the higher educational institutions, industry and students – all three. The university will work to bring the students to the industry, companies will train them and students will be able to get a strong foundation of their career by gaining practical knowledge.

Youth will become skilled

The government believes that this scheme will not only give students employment opportunities with studies, but they will also become self -sufficient. The experience learned at workplaces will play an important role in his personality development and career construction. It is considered a positive and historical change in the Indian education system.
