The Supreme Court gave a big and relief verdict on Thursday, 30 May 2025 regarding the NEET-PG 2025 examination. The court gave clear instructions to the National Board of Examinations (NBE) that the NEET-PG 2025 examination Same shift Will have to get it done The court dismissed the NBE’s decision to conduct the exam in two shifts and said that it is arbitrary and this can cause injustice to the students.
NEET PG Exam 2025: What is the whole matter?
The NEET-PG 2025 exam is going to be held on 15 June 2025. The first plan was to be conducted in two shifts, but doctors and medical students strongly opposed it. He said that having different papers in two shifts may lead to the level of difficulty of questions, which can benefit some students and harm some. Apart from this, questions were also raised on the normalization process (process of equalizing the score), as it was not transparent. On this issue, some other students including United Doctors Front (UDF) and Dr. Aditi filed a petition in the Supreme Court. The petition demanded that NEET-PG 2025 be made in the same shift, so that there is equal chance for all students. Along with this, there was a demand to publish raw score, answer and normalization formula.
NEET PG Exam 2025: What did the Supreme Court say?
On 30 May 2025, a bench of Justice Vikram Nath, Justice Sanjay Kumar and Justice NK Anjaria heard the case. The court clearly said that it is arbitrary to conduct the exam in two shifts and this does not have an atmosphere of equality between the students. The difficulty of the paper in different shifts cannot be the same, which can lead to profit or disadvantage to some students.
The NBE has a long time till June 15, so he can conduct a shift in a safe and transparent manner. The court instructed the NBE to maintain full transparency and make necessary arrangements for the smooth exam. On 5 May 2025, the court sought a reply from NBE, National Medical Commission (NMC) and Health Ministry. On May 23 and 26, the students demanded a early hearing from the court, as the admit cards are going to be issued on 2 June. On May 30, the court accepted the demand of the students.
NEET PG Exam: Why were students angry?
Last year too, NEET-PG was in two shifts and the students complained that the second shift paper was easy, causing a disturbance in the normalization. Many students got a low rank in their results, after which a petition was filed in the court. Did not get a chance to check your score.

NEET PG 2025: What will happen now?
NEET-PG 2025 will now be in the same shift on 15 June 2025. The results will come by July 15. The court had already ordered the raw score, answer and normalization formula for 2024. NBE will have to do this for 2025 as well. NBE will now have to make secure exam centers and transparent arrangements for examination in a shift across the country. If there is a shortage of time, then the NBE can demand the court to increase the time.
