Following the Supreme Court order in 2022, women were allowed to enter the NDA. These 17 cadets completed 3 years of hard training, including drills, horse riding and strategy training. Sriti Daksha, whose father has been an alumnus of NDA, impressed everyone with her hard work. Sriti’s father is retired from the post of Wing Commander in the Air Force. NDA Passing Out Parade 2025 339 cadets were given degrees. The chief guest on this occasion was Professor Poonam Tandon.
Women in NDA passing out parade
On 30 May 2025, the 148th passing out parade of the National Defense Academy (NDA) became a historic moment in Khadakwasla, Pune. For the first time 17 women cadets graduated with more than 300 male classmates. This is an important step for the Indian armed forces, which reflects gender equality and women’s leadership ability. In this batch, a name has emerged especially- Sriti Daksha. He finished first in the Arts stream and inspired everyone with his hard work and dedication.
Entry of women in NDA, new era starts
At the NDA i.e. National Defense Academy, officers are prepared for the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force. Following the interim order of the Supreme Court in 2021, women were allowed to enter this prestigious academy from 2022. This decision was not only a major step towards gender equality, but also proves that women can contribute similar to men in the defense sector. 17 women cadets involved in the 148th course completed 3 years of difficult training.
Who is Shriti Daksh: Who is NDA Topper Sriti Daksha?
In this historic batch, Sriti Daksha topped everyone by topping the Arts stream. It is a symbol of their dedication and hard work. His father Wing Commander (Retired) Yogesh Kumar has been an alumnus of Daksha NDA. He is from Hunter Squadron. He expressed pride in his daughter’s achievement. Sriti chose her father’s squadron. Sriti said that it was quite challenging to balance between military training and academic studies, but she achieved it with hard work and discipline.

The name was also in the toppers list in school
NDA Topper Sriti Daksha performed brilliantly during her school days. He scored 95% in 10th and 98% in 12th. Sriti told- The early days were physically and mentally difficult, but gradually she adapted herself into the environment of the academy. The cooperation of trainers and classmates was very important for him. NDA’s training increased his confidence and he also learned to convert challenges into opportunity.
NDA received degree from JNU in passing out parade
339 cadets were awarded degrees from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in the NDA passing out parade held on 30 May 2025. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University Vice Chancellor Poonam Tandon was the chief guest at this ceremony. In the parade, along with Sriti Daksha, Lucky Kumar (first in Science Stream), Prince Kumar Singh Kushwaha (first in Computer Science) and Udayveer Singh Negi (first in B.Tech) also showed their talent.
Future will change with the contribution of women
This first batch symbolizes the growing role of women in the Indian armed forces. These 17 women cadets have proved that no goal is impossible with the right opportunity and hard work. The stories of all Mahiva cadets, including Shriti Daksha, will inspire future generations. NDA Commandant Vice-Admiral Gurcharan Singh also praised these cadets and hoped that these women would set a new example of leadership in future.
