I had the opportunity to try some of the new skills, but two remained more than the others. The first is the update to the person. This is the spatial avatar that the headset creates according to your similarity using the on -board cameras (you must aim the headset in the head and perform a configuration process to create a person). Last year, the first thing I felt when I joined the zoom meetings wearing Vision Pro was a laugh. My person was rigid, my hair looked out opaque: it just looked like Bad.
Apple has renewed the appearance and feeling of making these 3D digital representations significantly better than before, with a much more natural and realistic design. You can also see the entire view of the side profile of the head. Hair plots are better, as well as skin complexions. I created my person without wearing glasses, but I was able to add virtual glasses in almost the same style as my real frames, and they have no clips or seemed shaking. (I recorded a small greeting through a third party app, which you can see below.)
Do not misunderstood me, there is still some incredible valley in progress here – facial expressions and eye movements are quite rigid – but its jumps and limits better than what debuted on Vision Pro last year. You can use these people for video calls or when someone join your virtual space remotely.
The other new remarkable functionality in updating the operating system is widgets. You can place the widgets around your home, like a clock, a calendar or a music widget, and will always remain in the same places. Apple makes this trick by creating a map of your home, which is stored privately on your AVP device. The headset will remember the positions of the widgets even when restarting and will look at each other again.
I walked from one room to another wearing a vision pro headset and I saw gone widgets put around the room. The list of positionable widgets includes a digital photo frame that behaves like a window in your virtual space; You can see more photos as you get closer.
It is a clear idea: every time you put yourself in the cap, you can take away in a virtual life space or in a sort of office and apps in specific places in the room, together with virtual calendars, watches, musical reproduction widgets and more. You may have stuck in your office at home, then walk to your bedroom and pin Apple TV. The entire virtual space can be set ready to go exactly like your physical home.
What is strange is at ease with Apple wants you to feel like putting an auricle and walking around the house, interacting with space widgets and talking to people with a digitized version of your face.
When the Vision Pro debuted for the first time, Apple was derided for including a clip of a father who captured a space video with the headset while his two children played in front of him. Every time I wore the ear, my wife hated him. But Apple hasn’t changed his position: he wants you to live in Vision, even if you end up looking for Wade Watts Player Player One.
