Mobile App May Predict Depression in Pregnant Women

Mobile technology may soon prove to be very beneficial for pregnant women. Researchers say that with the help of a mobile app, it can be gauged a long time in advance whether a pregnant woman can go into depression in the final stage of her pregnancy. The problem of depression is often seen in pregnant women because during pregnancy, there are major chemical changes in the body of women, in which hormones also contribute to a major contribution. The survey included women who were in the early stages of pregnancy. It is also called first trimster period. It begins before pregnancy when the last day of the cycle is the last day before conception. That is, this phase actually starts even before the woman is pregnant. Researchers referred to many types of risks related to pregnancy in the survey including factors such as sleep quality, insecurity regarding food. They go later and cause depression.

Tamar Krishnamurthy, the lead writer of research at the University of Pittsburgh in the US, believes through this research that, some questions can be found out whether they will get depression or not. Authar says that depression may come due to feelings like the woman’s sleep quality, labor pen, and her mind about delivery, insecurity in her mind about eating.

But if it is already known through the mobile app that a woman can go into depression in the later stage, then measures can be taken to stop it in advance. Researchers surveyed 944 women who used this mobile app for this study. There was no old history related to depression with these women. The accuracy of this model prepared by the researchers was found to be 93 percent.
