Medical College: The Odisha government has decided to open four new MBBS colleges in Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal and Nabrangpur, which will improve the availability and quality of medical education in the state.

Medical college: The Odisha government has announced the opening of four new MBBS Medical College in the state. These college will be set up in Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal and Nabrangpur districts. These institutions will help in improving the access and quality of medical education in the state.

Dental and Ayurvedic colleges will also be involved

Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling said that four new dental colleges will be opened in Burla, Barahampur, Bolganar and Keonjhar. Apart from this, an Ayurvedic college will also be established in Mayurbhanj district, which will also promote traditional medical practices.

Two new medical colleges will be admitted from this year

The minister also informed that medical colleges with 100-100 MBBS seats in Phulbani in Kandhamal district and Talcher in Angul district will start operations from this academic session. Mukesh Mahaling thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Manjhi for approving medical colleges for the state. He said that this will help in removing the shortage of doctors in Odisha.

Doctors and paramedical staff are getting large -scale recruitment

In the Healthcare Summit 2025 organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the minister said that the state government is committed to strengthening health services structures and medical education. Mahaling said that over 4,000 doctors and paramedical personnel were recruited last year. This year there is a plan to recruit more than 5,000 medical personnel. A target has been set to fill 1.5 lakh government posts in the next five years.

Health structure will develop with public-private participation

CII Odisha State Council President Sunil Gupta said that Odisha’s role in the national health sector is continuously increasing. He emphasized on advancing public-private participation in the health sector, so that future health challenges can be dealt with better.
