No more mcdoughnuts? McDonald’s and Kiscpy Kreme said Tuesday who end the partnership on July 2, just over a year after it was announced. According to a press release, the Ciambelle chain and the Big Mac house “jointly decided to end their partnership”. McDonald’s and Krispy Kreme managers added that the business model “had to be profitable” for the baking chain but in the end they were “unsustainable”.Krispy Kreme said he no longer sells his donuts in McDonald’s restaurants after the partnership has failed to provide economic results for the donut producer. “In the end, the efforts to put our costs in line with the unitary question have not been successful, making the partnership unsustainable for us,” said Josh Charlesworth, CEO of Kispy Kreme, in a note, according to Fox News.
The companies planned a gradual launch that would bring the donuts to McDonald’s at national level by the end of 2026But the companies decided to call him stop after introducing Ciambelle in just 2,400 of the almost 14,000 US stores in McDonald.
“We had a strong collaboration with Kiscpy Kreme and delivered a large high quality product for us, and while the partnership satisfied our expectations for McDonald’s and owners/operators, this said a profitable business model also for Kispy Kreme,” said the marketing and experience of McDonald customers, in a statement.
McDonald’s, based in Chicago, announced in March 2024 that he would start selling three types of Krispy Kreme donuts in participating places after a successful pilot in Kentucky. The donuts were sold individually or in six boxes.
