

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) today celebrates a significant milestone since its iconic premium sedan, The Swift, completes 20 years in the Indian market. Launched in May 2005, the Swift marked a bold change in the design and direction of the Maruti Suzuki brand, attractive especially for younger buyers with its sports characteristics, engaging and segment functionality.
Evolution between four generations
Since its debut, the Swift has found over 3 million customers in India, gaining its place as one of the most popular and lasting plates in the country. Currently, he commands an impressive market share of 31% in his segment and contributes to over 10% of MSIL’s overall sales. According to the company’s data, almost one in four Swift buyers continued to buy another Swift: a strong indicator of loyalty to the brand.
Over the past two decades, the Swift has undergone four important generational updates, each of which has improved its basic DNA of being a fun and elegant sedan. The first generation Swift (2005) introduced a new design language on the Indian market. In 2011, the second generation came with weight improvements and agility. The third generation launched in 2018 brought advanced functionality and technology, aligning with the needs of evolving consumers.
Focus on safety
The latest update-fourth generation “Epic New Swift” -T debut in 2024. It presents a more futuristic design with a line of enveloping characters, glossy black grill, smoky LED projectors and a refreshed rear profile. Inside, the new Swift is designed to be focused with features such as a flat bottom steering wheel, asymmetrical tools and a sports layout of the cabin.
Under the hood, the new Swift introduced the last engine of the Z series of Maruti Suzuki, built with particular attention to the best efficiency and the lower emissions. Safety also saw a significant step forward with the inclusion of the safety shield of the Msil Arena in the whole rapid range. The key features include six airbags, ESP+, ABS with EBD, Hill Hold control, reverse parking sensors and 3 -point safety belts for all passengers.
