As part of its current green logistics strategy, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) is planning to increase the shipments of vehicles via railways to 35 % from the exercise31, reports PTI. In the exercise24, the share of shipments by railway for MSIL was 24 %, compared to 5 % in the year 15. This happens when the company inaugurated its second and largest railway fitting in India in its Maner structure, under the Master Plan Gatishakti National. The company had previously established such a coating in plants in its Gujarat structure in March 2024.
The CEO and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi said that this transition represents the supported push of the company towards a more sustainable and efficient logistics. “We opened the way to the use of the railways for vehicle shipments by becoming the first company in India to obtain a car worker license,” Takeuchi observed. “Since then, we have sent over 25 Lakh vehicles through the track.”New Manesar Facility: a project of Punta Gatishakti
The recently inauguration in Menasar inauguration is the largest Multi-Modal load terminal Gatishakti of India. Once fully operational, the structure will allow an expedition of 4.5 Lakh vehicles every year, further increasing Maruti Suzuki’s railway logistics capacity.
The coatings range 46 acres, with completely electrified infrastructure, four rake tracks with full length, an engine escape track, with 8.2 km long.
The Manesar coating is part of the 126 km Haryana orbital railway corridor (Horc), which connects Sonipat to Palwal. The project was carried out by the Haryana Orbital Rail Corporation Ltd (Horcl), a joint venture in which Maruti Suzuki invested £ 325.
In addition, Msil has invested another cror of £ 127 for the development of the internal construction site, bringing his total investment in the project to £ 452.
The improved use of railways will result in important environmental benefits. According to Takeuchi, this shift will help to avoid about 1.75 tons of CO₂ emissions and save 60 million liters of fuel per year, reducing MSIL carbon imprint while improving delivery efficiency.
Pan-India Reach and Export Facilititation
The vehicles of the Msil Msil Msil Gururgram plants will be shipped to 17 hubs, covering 380 cities throughout India. The new structure is also aimed at exporting the ports of Muntra and Pipavav, simplifying both national and international logistics.
