Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has made operational the largest automotive railway covering in plan in terms of Haryana’s Manesar production structure. The project was inaugurated by the Ashwini Vaishnaw Union Railway Minister and Haryana Prime Minister Nayab Singh Saini.

Logistics and green capacity

This is the second structure of this type after the Gujarat plant and is part of the Gatishakti national general plan of Prime Minister Gatishakti. The railway upholstery was developed as part of the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor (Horc) project by Haryana Orbital Rail Corporation Ltd (Horcl), a joint venture in which Maruti Suzuki holds a 13%participation. The car manufacturer has invested a total of RS 452 crores in the project, including RS 127 Crore for the development of the internal construction site.

The new coating, distributed on 46 acres, is completely electrified and includes four rake length tracks, an engine escape line and a total length of the 8.2 km track. At full capacity, it can send 4.5 Lakh vehicles every year. Msil estimates that the structure will help to avoid 1.75 tons of co? Equivalent emissions and save up to 60 million liters of fuel every year.

This logistics initiative supports the goal of Maruti Suzuki to increase the shipping fee of vehicles per railway to 35% from 201031. From the 2014-15 fiscal year, the company has sent 25 Lakh vehicles through the Indian railways. The vehicles of the Gururgram and Maner plants will be shipped from this line to 17 hubs that cover 380 cities throughout India. Export hubs such as Muntra and Pipavav will also be served.

Project background

The corridor of the Haryana orbital railway of 126 km connects Sonipat to Palwal and passes through Manesar. The total cost of Horc’s project is estimated at 11,709 crores. In addition to Maruti Suzuki, other interested parties include HRIDC, HSIIDC, GMDA and all the load logistics. The Manesar coating aligns with the Sustainable Development of the United Nations on climatic action and supports the Mariti Suzuki roadmap at a cleaner and more efficient logistics network.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Hisashi Takeuchi, MD and CEOMaruti Suzuki India Limited said: “We are very happy that the largest railway connection in the automotive plan in India is inaugurated today at MARUTI Suzuki’s Manesar structure. Piano, the second railway system in plan plants indicates a reference result in its green logistical journey.

He added: “The project underlines our strong commitment towards zero net emissions in India 2070. It will help to avoid 175,000 tons of CO2E emissions, saving 60 million liters of fuel per year at full capacity and reducing road congestion. 2030-31.”
