The Candy Mars company did not offer remedies for EU antitrust regulators who examined the acquisition proposal of $ 36 billion from the Pringles Kellanova manufacturer, an update on the European Commission website shown on Thursday. The deadline for Mars to offer remedies was June 18th.
Mars and Kellanova did not immediately respond to the requests of E -COMMENT.
Reuters reported on Wednesday that for now it was unlikely that Mars offers remedies to face the concerns of the execution of the EU competition on its high market shares in some products in some countries of the European Union and its portfolio of strong brands.
The people close to the issue said that the EU antitrust guard dog will launch a large -scale investigation into the agreement at the end of its preliminary review which ends on June 25th. An EU investigation could force Mars to give in to the activities of competition.
But the bar is high for regulators to demonstrate anti -concurrence damage caused by the so -called wallet effects, which refer to a combined portfolio of products that increase the dominant position of a company or create market energy.
It is also difficult to find remedies to face the effects of the wallet.
The agreement, announced last August, is one of the largest in a sector that deals with the impact of consumers who move with the inflation belt and a passage to brand brands of the distributor.
The transaction brings the brands from M&M and Snickers to Pringles and Pop-Tarts under the same roof.
