They came to know that while passing through mental, the speed of waves decreases in a certain area. This showed scientists that there is water among rocks.

Scientists believe that this water plays an important role in maintaining the stability of the oceans on the earth. If this water was on the surface, then only the mountains would be seen on the earth as a land.
