Who does counseling? Understand both levels
Counseling is done at two levels after NEET results come.
15% AIQ – It is the responsibility of MCC (Medical Counseling Committee).
85% state quota – It does its own counseling authority of every state.
Many times students do only one level of counseling and do not apply for another, which reduces the opportunities to get seats. Registration in both is necessary.
Register on time and carefully
Counseling registration starts within a few days of NEET result. You have to register by visiting the website of MCC or State Counseling. For this, do not make a single mistake in name, roll number, marks, documents etc. In some states, residence certificates, category certificates etc. are required, keep them ready in advance.
Learn and change from mock allotment
Some states have mock allotment, which shows which college you can get according to your rank. With this you can know whether your choice is correct or not. Based on this, you can revise your choice list again.
Do choice filling thoughtfully, not just feelings
Many students choose only top medical colleges, which are out of their rank. Do not do this Adopt smart strategy and fill the top, mid and backup colleges as per priority. The more options you fill, the more the possibility of getting a seat will increase.
Do not take the document verification lightly
When the seat is found, the next phase is of document verification. Without it, the admission is not sure. The list of documents required for this is as follows.
NEET Scorecard and Admit Card
10th and 12th marksheet
Identity card (Aadhaar, PAN etc.)
Passport size photo
Category certificate (if applied)
Domicile Certificate (required in some states)
Keep the original and photocopy ready of all documents.
Understand the option of seat upgradation and exit
If you are not satisfied with the seat you are not satisfied, then you can choose the option of upgradation in the next round. For this, keep in mind the things given below.
Exit is not allowed in some counseling processes after round 2.
If you accept the seat and do not participate in the round ahead, then the same seat will be considered.
Therefore, read all the rules and decide carefully.
