JNU Admission: There was a referendum to resume PhD entrance exam in JNU. Students have voted in large numbers in its favor.

Jnu admission: The referendum was held on Sunday, 25 May to resume PhD Entrance Examination (JNUEE) at Jawaharlal Nehru University. A large number of students have voted in its favor. Between 5 pm and 10 pm on Saturday, in this polling held in the hostel areas of the university campus, 1,323 votes out of 1,324 votes were in favor of resumption of the entrance examination.
96 voted against it while five ballots were declared illegal.
The Left All India Students Association (AISA), who is holding the post of JNUSU president, appealed to the students to vote in favor of restoration of entrance examination. In a statement, the student union accused the Vice Chancellor of the university that he had retreated with the promise of conducting an in-house PhD entrance exam for admission of 2025 during the 16-day hunger strike.
Demand for admission in PhD from entrance exam
JNUSU said in its statement, “Madam VC retreated from her promise. The Vice Chancellor of JNU deliberately ignored the opinion of the Dean and Special Centers of the schools, who gave opinion in favor of JNUEE with an overwhelming majority.” Talking to PTI, JNUSU President Nitish Kumar said, “We want the admission in PhD to be through the entrance examination, not only on the basis of UGC-NET. It is a very old demand.”
