The Genius collection of Donald Glover debut for Moncler merges the alpine legacy of the brand with his Gilga Farm Ethos, melted functionality, humor and design ready for the summer. Inspired by the utility of the real world, the line has light layers, playful graphics and palettes with natural tones, anchored to narration, purpose and a dream campaign with Monduck.
Known for projects that blend the genre as Atlanta, his musical character, Childish Gambino and his ability to combine the surreal with the sincere and Glover infuses everything that touches with a clear sense of humor and an unusual subversive charm. Founded in 2023, Gilga Farm – an agriculture sanctuary and operational ideation in Ojai, California, where creatives can collect organically and sow new ideas – inspires a collaboration modeled by poetry and the purpose. His mantra, “the world revolves around your usefulness. Use it to move on to what you are”, frames its foray ready to be looking for, reflecting a philosophy of beauty through usefulness.
The collection: a world of utility inspired by the creativity found in Gilga Farm, a range of durable pieces and refined transitions from a field on the street with a discreet beauty. Moncler’s reputation for technical excellence meets the human approach of Glover to narration and design to create a world in which robust materials, practical silhouettes and soft color palettes work in tandem.
The Orange – an emblem of Gilga – appears throughout the collection as a logo and mentioned in the citrus palette. Moncler’s comic -style mascot, Monduck, is reinterpreted as a farmer in a playful graphics splash through the collection.
The collection features trans-stagial layers, but is oriented towards the summer. Outdoor clothing and cloud quoom -filled jackets inspired by Moncler’s mountain DNA are stratified on pieces and shorts inspired by work clothing for a Socal turning point. With its palette of rose, creams, oranges and blue washed in the sun, the collection evokes transparent skies and sunsets on Gilga Farm’s citrus fruits. The fabrics are light and transmit a natural sensation: cottonary, technical linen canvas and wool sweaters. A heavy suede jacket in burnt orange is combined with light nylon wire leaflets. In Signature Glover Style, the collection sings with bright notes and surprises: a hero’s jacket that becomes a sleeping bag for the nights under the stars. Practical elements such as gardening hats and robust sandals will anchor every aspect in the purpose, while large silhouettes, technological fabrics, humorous patches and extravagant details inject a modern youth. An interpretation of the Moncler Trailgrip sail sandal is available in a simple and utilitarian shape in leather and cotton ribbon, available in white, with pale pink vibram sole. Morning Moncler! ‘Inspired by the inheritance of Moncler’s design and its first product is a sleeping bag, combined with the conviction of Donald Glover in the importance of human care and sleep, the collection campaign has sunset-sunset lighting and comic graphics by reinterpreting the iconic Mascot mascot of Moncler of Moncler.
