IMD Monsoon Update: Monsoon will reach just 2 days, will knock in Kerala on 25 May, 5 days before last year – Monsoon Just two Days Away Set to Hit Kerala on May 25 five days ear last year

Imd monsoon update: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday informed that the southwest monsoon may knock on the Kerala coast in the next two to three days. If this forecast remains correct, the monsoon will reach Kerala this year on 25 May, which will be five days ago compared to the previous year. The monsoon started on 30 May in 2024.

IMD said in a statement, “Circumstances may be favorable for the start of monsoon in Kerala in the next 2-3 days.” Earlier, the Meteorological Department had predicted the monsoon to reach Kerala on 27 May. However, he had also talked about it to decrease or add 4 days in it.

A senior IMD official said in a conversation with Live Mint, “The circumstances are favorable and the monsoon is proceeding as per the schedule. If the current situation persists, it can reach the Kerala coast by 25 May, as we predicted.”

Good news for agriculture and economy

About 70% of the total rainfall in India is obtained from the monsoon coming between June and September. This rain is extremely important to fill farming, water storage and ground water and reservoirs. Therefore, the arrival of timely monsoon is very important in terms of agricultural production, rural income and food security of the country.

This year, the Meteorological Department has predicted a better monsoon than average, which has increased the expectations of good yield of kharif crops. Timely rain is considered favorable for sowing of crops like paddy, maize, cotton, soybean and oilseeds. It will also help in maintaining the water level of the reservoirs for the upcoming Rabi season.

Monsoon is growing rapidly in other areas also

Not only Kerala, but the progress of monsoon is also estimated to have South and Central Arabian Sea, Maldives and Comorin region, Lakshadweep, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Bay of South and Central Bengal, Bay of North Bengal and parts of the northeastern states.

This prediction of IMD has raised a new ray of hope for farmers and policy makers. Now everyone’s eyes are on the Kerala coast, where soon the first monsoon rain may knock.
