What happened on social media, what was the debate in Iitians and doctors?

Iitians, DRDO, ISRO News, JEE Advanced, JEE Main: Debate on social media.

Highlights

  • Debate on government jobs between Iitians and doctors.
  • Doctors have to sign bonds for government jobs.
  • ISRO needs talent, demand to attract Iitians.

Doctor, MBBS, Iitians: A big debate has started on social media about IITians and doctors. Two doctors have raised the question that when doctors have to sign a bond of up to 10 years for a government job after doing MBBS, then why do the engineers studying with IITs not have such obligation? Especially when big government organizations like ISRO and DRDO are in dire need of talent.

What is the whole matter?

Former Chief S Somnath said in an interview that ISRO is not getting talent from top institutes like IITs. Somnath is the same who led the Chandrayaan-3 mission. He said that IIT students do not show interest in joining ISRO. Once during the campus placement, 60% of IIT students left the presentation after seeing the salary of ISRO. Somnath wrote in his social media post that our country’s best talent engineers should be and they should be IITIANS, but they are not joining ISRO. We have to give good salary, good environment and some incentives to retain talent. Otherwise people go out and work abroad.

What did the doctors say?

After this statement, two doctors have expressed their displeasure. Dr. Deepak Krishnamurthy, senior cardiologist of Kims Hospital, said that I do not understand why doctors only have to sign bonds for government jobs? Apply this rule on IITIANS also to work in places like ISRO, DRDO. Dr. G. Rajesh, Professor of Government Medical College, Kozhikode also agreed. He said that let Iitians go to America, there is no problem, but we doctors have to sign up to 10 years after MBBS, MD or Superspeciality. Why are these people discount? We also spend more money from us on their studies.

Why does ISRO want talent?

Organizations like ISRO and DRDO are very important for the science and defense of the country, but the top talent is not coming in these jobs. Somnath said that we need the best people to do new things in technology. Not only people come from incentives, but a good environment is needed. But still we have to improve good salary, recognition and working conditions, so that the talent stays in the country.

Doctors have to do work

Medical students have to work in government hospitals for years, otherwise their registration stops. On the other hand, IITians do not have such compulsion. They easily go abroad, but organizations like ISRO-DRDO want talent for the country, so should there be some rules for IITIANS too?
