A rumor on social media and Whatsapp is becoming increasingly viral amid the recent tension atmosphere between India and Pakistan. It is being claimed that ATMs are going to be closed for the next 2-3 days across the country and people are being asked to take cash out quickly. In this viral message, it has also been added with fear -spreading language that “The situation on the border is not good, war can begin at any time.”If you are also troubled by any such message or you have seen this forward in any of your groups, then make it clear first, this claim is completely fake. No such alert has been issued by the government or any official agency that ATMs are being closed across the country.

ATM services are currently running completely normal and no restriction has been given by banks. Especially at a time when people are already between stress and rumors, such fake messages can only create an atmosphere of fear.
If you get any such message, then keep these things in mind:
- Do not forward any viral message without checking.
- Confirm this with PIB Fact Check or any trusted news source.
- Take information related to banking or ATM only from the official bank app or website.
- If needed, you can also do “Report” on WhatsApp.
ATM machines are normally functioning across India, including sensitive areas like Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab.
