Taking a major step towards the futures of the Satellite Bed Internet, Elon Musk’s Starlink has received the SATCOM services license from the Ministry of Telecommunications in India. It is the third company after Eutetersat‑oneweb and Reliance Jio‑ses in India, which has received this approval. This has found Starlink a way to start commercial services, especially in areas where traditional network does not reach. Recently, Starlink emphasized that the spectrum should be allotted administratively, not to sell in the auction and the Government of India also took its favor, on which Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel also expressed objections.NDTV quoted by PTI Report It is said that Starlink has finally obtained the license of DOT for its services in India. The license was in cold storage for a long time and at one time it seemed that the company of Elon Musk would have to wait longer. Starlink started the agreement for commercial entry in India in 2022, but had to wait a long time due to national security concerns.

Now the Department of Telecom (DOT) has given it Global Mobile Communication by Satellite (GMPCS) license and the process of allotment of trial spectrum will also start in about 15-20 days.

Starlink has now become a third company in India, which has received a SATCOM license from DOT. Earlier Eutetersat-ONEWEB and Jio‑ses were licensed. This decision will bring strong competition and speed in the Indian satellite Internet market.

The recent report reported that Starlink allegedly emphasized that the spectrum should be attended by administratively, not selling in auction. The government also showed inclination in its favor and the debate over the spectrum fee structure between Reliance Jio‑ses vs Airtel‑oneweb intensified. At the same time, Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel described it as ‘uneven fees’ and have registered their objections.

The focus of Starlink is especially on remote and undersved areas, where the traditional network does not reach. Low-Earth Orbit (Leo) satellites will provide faster and lulette internet connectivity, which can improve digital connectivity in rural India.
