DM Story, IAS Story: Who is IAS Dharmendra Singh, father was a farmer, studying from village school, SDM made at the age of 21

Dharmendra Pratap Singh He was born on 16 January 1975 in Tarkulwa in Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh. His father Omprakash Singh was a farmer. Dharmendra said in a conversation with news 18 that his childhood was spent in the rural environment amid farming. He got his early education up to class eight in primary and upper primary schools in village Tarkulwa. After this, he completed from High School and Intermediate Government Inter College Deoria.

IAS Dharmendra pratap singh: Graduation from Allahabad University

Dharmendra Pratap Singh earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and philosophy from Allahabad University, where he also won two gold and one silver medal in economics.

After graduation, Dharmendra started preparing for civil services and at the age of just 21, Dharmendra got success in the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (PCS) examination in the first attempt in 1996. He was selected for SDM. After this, Dharmendra was working as Deputy Collector (SDM) in Basti, Prayagraj, Ghaziabad, Saharanpur, Etawah and Lucknow. He also served as Special Officer (OSD) in Ghaziabad Development Authority. He also contributed significantly in implementing the metro project and the longest road in the state.

IAS Posting Detail: IAS became in 2013

In 2013, Dharmendra Pratap Singh was promoted for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). After this, he served as Director (Vigilance) in the New Delhi Municipal Council from 2018 to 2022. During this, he took the initiative to deliver more than 50 services to the door-to-door, for which he was awarded the Prime Minister’s Excellence Award in 2022. He also served as Special Secretary in the Urban Development Department of Uttar Pradesh.

On 14 September 2024, Dharmendra Pratap Singh was appointed as the District Magistrate and Collector of Shahjahanpur. After coming here, he launched a campaign to make the buffalo river alive. The buffalo river passing through the Puwaian tehsil of Shahjahanpur was once the lifeline of dozens of villages, but decades ago it dried up and its existence remained limited to papers. Officials did not try to regenerate this river, but Dharmendra Pratap Singh accepted this challenge. When he found mention of buffalo river on paper, he immediately started regeneration. The excavation of the 53 km long river was started with the help of more than two dozen JCB machines. After a month’s hard work, the digging of more than 90% of the river has been completed.

Dharmendra’s wife is a doctor

Dharmendra claims that the excavation will be completed in the next 2-3 days and with the rain, there will be a continuous stream of water again in the river. There is also a large scale plan to plant trees on the banks of the river, which will further strengthen environmental protection. Many voluntary organizations along with the district administration also participated in this initiative. Their initiative is being appreciated everywhere. Dharmendra’s wife Dr. Ekta Singh is a famous gynecologist of Noida. His son is currently a student in IIT Delhi. Dharmendra has also recently got the first place among the top district collectors of UP.
