Will Knight: Perhaps we also need a renewed open source movement, so we are not only using agents that belong and chanters data for these giant companies. Use code and open source code and models and that kind of thing.

Michael Heat: It is a great idea. We should have the signal on this. They should start doing it. They should create their model.

Lauren Goode: I think it sounds great.

We will put artificial intelligence agents from a moment for a minute and become human again. Let’s talk through some tips. Will, as our guest, please recommend something to our listeners.

Will Knight: Okay, I talked about it before, but I want to make me my recommendation. I will hold it, which is excellent radio. This book, which is The evolution of the agency By Michael Tomasello. I found it fascinating and truly revealed on what is missing with the IA when it comes to agency and the importance of understanding human social interaction, human culture. When it comes to the great framework of intelligence in agi, of which everyone speaks, but they do not speak so much.

Michael Heat: Cute. Lauren, what is your recommendation?

Lauren Goode: My recommendation is local news and in particular the local mission.

Michael Heat: Yes!

Lauren Goode: Mission Local is an organization of local non -profit news here in San Francisco that covers the Mission district, but also San Francisco. They do a fantastic job. There is a lot to do in the US cities right now, in particular in Los Angeles, and also in San Francisco. There are ice raids that happen across the country and people are going down to the street to protest them. Mission Local has done an excellent job by covering what is happening in San Francisco so far. I advise you to support them and support your local news if you can. Mike, what is your recommendation?

Michael Heat: I want to recommend an essay in the current number of Harper’s. He is from the Norwegian writer Karl where Knausgaard that Lauren, I’m sure you are tired of me that you speak. But it’s a fantastic essay. It is called “the reaffirmed world”. It’s Karl where technology. He tells you the first time he met a computer, which was 40 years ago. So he didn’t pay attention to computers at all and starts disturbing him. There is a great quote near the top. “To keep somehow informed about the political situation in the world is a duty, something from which you do not have the right to move away. Should you not apply something similar to technology, given the immensity of IT?” I love that quote, because it really comes to the center of what we are talking about today. To interact with the world, you have to understand how these systems work. Goes to a Greek island to visit the writer James Bridle, because their book Ways of being It is really an excellent introduction to intelligence, artificial intelligence and natural intelligence. They speak a lot about artificial intelligence and how they developed and how the various computing ways of calculation in our life have been presented. It is a truly wonderful piece shown on the current state of technology in our life.

Lauren Goode: Great.

Michael Heat: Yes.

Lauren Goode: It seems much shorter than his books.

Michael Heat: Yes. You can read it in less than an hour.
