Danone is introducing an Oikos branded drink that aims to US consumers using weight loss drugs such as Wegovy, engaging the milk -based drink helps to respond to the common concern about maintaining the muscles.Patients with GLP-1 drugs like Zepbound often pour precious rather than fat muscles, worrying doctors and require dietary changes, such as eating more proteins.
Danone’s new drink, called Oikos Fusion, has nutrients such as vitamin D and serum proteins that French society claims that they help build and keep the muscles.
Danone is the last food manufacturer who takes the opportunity to sell new products to consumers who leave weight with GLP-1, that users usually inject and sometimes are called “The Shot”.
The market is destined to grow as drug producers try to develop drugs that suppress the appetite in the form of a pill. The manufacturer of US-packaged foods Conagra began to label his healthy choice for frozen meals “GLP-1”, while rival Nestle launched a vital pursuit to serve those in medicine.
Frozen pizzas and pasta bowls generally offer higher quantities of proteins and are available in smaller portions.
At the beginning of this year, Danone introduced another Oikos smoothie with a high protein content to compete with the wildly popular effort of Coca-Cola. Pepsico is also entering “liquid protein” since the Americans add more to their diet.
Danone sales in North America have increased by over 2% in the second quarter, in part due to Oikos, which is mainly a yogurt brand.
“This is a brand that has grown at a quick pace on the market and expands strategically,” said Rafael Acevedo, president of Yogurt in Danone North America.
The single bottles of the new drink will be sold for the first time to Walmart for $ 2.12.
