FMCG’s major-chicate-palmolive (India) plans to introduce multiple brands here by the global portfolio of the company to improve his game in India of the drivers for its growth, said Prabha Narasimhan MD and CEO on Monday. The company, with presence in the country with two brands – cultured and Palmolive, currently operates in oral care and personal care, and is in “active conversation in progress” with the parent company for the expansion of the wallet.

“We are very enthusiastic about what we can do in India, both with our existing brands and wallets, and with what we can do with the things we can bring from the globe. We have a huge support from our global counterparts in terms of excitement on what we can get in India,” said Narasimhan a PTI.

Information on the Palmolive brand, which currently operates in space for personal care with a range of washing and washing of the premium hand, said Narasimhan, have enormous potential and grow from 20 to 30 % of Cagr. When asked as if Colgate-Palmolive India Ltd (CPIL) will extend the Palmolive brand into new segments, he added that he would have preferred to focus on the introduction of multiple brands.

“In reality, more than extending the Palmolive brand, we have a lot of portfolio of products that is available globally. We are trying to see what the product portfolio has can be legitimately brought to India and make sense for the Indian consumer and exploit the strengths that Palmolive India has. It is a very active conversation in progress,” he added.

CPIL, which operates in India in the last 88 years, currently contributes to about 4-5 % of the global revenues of the Midtown Manhattan, the multinational consumption products based in New York City, the Major Colgate-Palmolive Company.

According to Narasimhan, “in the coming years, the contribution of India will surely increase”.

India, with its population of over 1.4 billion, is always a “central part” of the global strategy of Colgate and is now among the five markets, which are called as growth driver.

“If you listen to our global CEO … who also recently spoke in a conference in which he spoke of the fact that India will add more people in the middle class in the coming years compared to any other country in the world and therefore represents a huge opportunity for us,” he said.

In addition, on the channel side, CPIL, according to its strategy, is also extending its game in rapidly growing e-commerce channels, adding multiple digital brands, exclusive for online sales channels. He launched Purple and Max Fresh Sensories Range, mouthwasome bins, which is for a small audience on the market.

“We have several and we have a pipeline of many others,” he added.

However, he also added that traditional trade, which is the Kirana Stores district, is actually most of the CPIL affairs and fundamental for the company. It has a “terrible relationship” with its distributors, many of whom have been with it for decades.

At the beginning of May, Alla India Consumer Products Distributors Federation (AICPDF), an umbrella body of FMCG Paniandia distributors, had requested the suspension of the purchase of all CPIL products in the Maharashtra, supporting a profound discount from it in favor of quick trade channels.

However, Narasimhan said there is “enough space” for all channels on the market.

Speaking of the trend of consumers who become more attentive to health, looking for better products and organic options, Narasimhan has said that consumers acquire benefits and Cpil has the right science to offer all these benefits.

Recently, the oral assistance segment has witnessed greater competition, in which several brands have launched their toothpaste based on the ingredients derived from traditional Ayurveda and organic options.

“Indian consumers are sensitive enough to know that they are looking for an advantage, they find products that offer this advantage, and this is our main work,” he said.
