

Hyundai Crete/EV has continued its domain in this segment until May 2025 with a market share of 35.29% while Toyota Hyryder has marked a growth in sales of 93.88%
The compact SUVs showed a marginal increase in the demand in May 2025. The models in this segment, which descend between 4.2 meters and 4.4 meters have witnessed a growth of 1.05% Yoy to 42,104 units, from 41,665 sales of unit of May 2024. However, they decreased by 1.90% of 42.919 sales of April units. Curvv/EV, Mahindra Be 6 and Citroen Basalt.
Compact SUV sales May 2025 – Yoy growth
Hyundai Crete/EV commanded this list with 14,860 units sales last month. It was a growth of 1.35% on an annual basis compared to 14,662 units sold in the same month last year. He currently commands a strong share of 35.29% in this list. At n. 2 There was Toyota Hyryder, of which 7,573 units were sold in May 2025. It also showed the highest growth rate at 93.88%, indicating greater acceptance of hybrid technology among buyers in the country. Sales in May 2024 had been to 3,906 units while Hyryder holds a market share of 17.99%.
Kia Self’s sales decreased by 9.71% to 6,082 units of 6,736 units on a yoy base while Maruti Grand Vitara also underwent a setback of the sales of 46.62% to only 5,197 units sold last month. There were 9,736 unitary sales in May 2024 Honda recorded 1,461 units of its high compact SUV last month. This was a 5.92% drop on an annual basis compared to the sales of unit of 1,553 of May 2024, a drop in the volume of 92 units.
There were also 1,206 units of Mahindra Be 6 Esuv sold last month. It was launched in January 2025 together with XEV 9E and Mahindra has marked its highest monthly production since these two electric vehicles were launched. The next on the list was VW Taigun with 1,126 unitary sales in May 2025 relating to a strong drop of 27.87% on an annual basis. Skoda Kushaq also suffered from a 44.34% lower demand to 644 units, a significant de-Crescita of over 1,157 sales of May 2025 units.



The negative sales performance were also recorded for two compact electric SUVs in this list. The sales of MG ZS EV were 360 units that marked a decline of 32.96% on an annual basis and the sales of Mahindra XUV400 EV decreased by 59.06% to 287 units. Citroen Basalt had 95 sales of units last month. MG Astor and Citroen C3 Aircross Sales dropped to 84 units and 66 units respectively which mark a net 91.52% and 47.20% respectively.
Compact SUV sales May 2025 – Mother’s growth
Sales performance were negative on a 1.90% mother base with only the Toyota Hyryder, Honda Eleva, Mahindra Be6 and Citroen Basalt staying in the green. The sales of Hyundai Crete decreased by 12.67% by 17,016 units sold in April 2025 when it held a higher market share of 39.65%
It was followed by Toyota Hyryder, whose sales swept abruptly by 63.14% compared to 4,642 sales of units in April 2025, while Kia Selos sales increased by 0.86% of 6,135 units sold in the previous month. Grand Vitara’s Sales Decreased 27.63% and Tata Curvv / EV also recorded lower sales than 2.73% of mom. The high Honda demand has significantly increased by 56.26% to 1,462 units of 935 units sold in April 2025, marking an increase in the unitary volume of 526.



It was an increase in triple figures for Mahindra was 69.27% of 6 compared to the sales of units of 550 April 2025, a volume growth of 656 units. Sales decreased by VW Tiguan by 2.51% and for the Kushaq Skoda of 17.75%, while MG ZS EV suffered a massive de-culture of 58.33% of mom at only 360 units sold last month by 864 units sold in April 2025.
Also in the electrical compact SUV segment, Mahindra XUV400 underwent a drop in mother’s demand of 14.84% to 287 units of 337 units. Citroen basalt sales increased by 43.94% compared to the 66 sales of April 2025 units and the company also sold 66 units of the C3 Aircross last month. MG Astor suffered from a 36.84% lower demand from 133 units sold in April 2025.
