Chinese Rover Finds Evidence of 3.42 Billion Year old Ocean on Mars

In many researches, it has been tasted that there used to be Ocean on Mars. The European Space Agency, including NASA, has discovered evidence of this. Now scientists have gathered new evidence with the help of Zhurong Rover in China. They show that there was an ocean on Mars billions of years ago. NDTV’s Report According to, Jhurong Rover landed in the northern low -lying areas of Mars in the year 2021. His spacraft revolved around the planet. During this time the data collected has revealed geological characteristics showing the presence of ancient coastline there. To gather evidence, Rover analyzed a rock at a place called Utopia Planitia.

Researchers have stated that Chinese Tianvan-1 orbiter, NASA’s Mars Riconsense Orbiter and six-wheeled robotic rover have indicated that there was a water-ocean on Mars even when it was probably already cooled and dry and lost his most atmosphere.

Researchers have explained the surface characteristics of the existing region such as trough, sediment channel and clay volcanic formations that indicate a beach.

Planetary Scientist Bo Wu of Hong Kong Polytechnic University says that we estimate that the floods in the Utopia Planitia area on Mars came about 3.68 billion years ago. Researchers say that it seems that the ocean disappeared about 3.42 billion years ago.

Study co-writer Sergei Kasisilnikov has said that there was a large amount of silt in that water of the sea, which shows the structure of today’s sediment. According to the report, Mars was also made about 4.5 billion years ago like other planets in our solar system. Then there was an atmosphere and the sea was also present on the planet.
