This indicates a long-term memory of chimpzis to identify the face. An interesting thing in this is that their duration of looking towards the face seems to be associated with their previous relationship status. They see the faces with whom they have closeness. It can be assumed from these findings that the excellent memory of humans can also be in chimpy and bonebos. It can also be the reason behind this being a common ancestor millions of years ago.
Laura Lewis, the first writer of this research, is associated with the University of California, Berkeley in the US. Lewis told The Guardian, “These conclusions have revealed the long-term memory of Chimpaji and Bonbos. The effect of their social relations on the memory of the monkeys has also been indicated by this study. It is a matter of fact that the period and type of this social memory is almost equal to the long-term memory.” Earlier in some studies, chimpzis had some ability to react to humans.
