Tesla’s rival led by Elon Musk, Byd, is taking legal actions against 37 accounts influencers and monitoring another 126 for alleged disinformations and damaging the online content, says a report. According to reports, the Chinese electrical vehicle manufacturer has announced a financial incentive program, offering significant prizes for leads verified on suspected online disinformations. Recently, by Byd’s legal department has issued a declaration through its official Wechat account, providing updates on several current legal cases concerning online defamation, reports Carnewschina. The report states that the company has also confirmed that it is pursuing legal action compared to the 37 accounts influencers. In the meantime, the long -term financial incentives program of the company offers prizes ranging from 50,000 to 5 million yuan (almost $ 6,900 to $ 690,000), adds the report. These prizes will be offered for verified information relating to the suspected online disinformation that aims at the company.

What byd said to sue influencers for the spread of online disinformation

In a statement to Carnewschina, Li Yunfei, general manager of Branding and the Department of Public Relations by Byd, reiterated the position of the company, observing that all posts and comments threads have been kept as legal tests. “We welcome media criticism and the supervision of the public, but we will not tolerate defamatory content or false accusations. The legal action will continue”, He noticed Yunfei.

The company has also said that it was the goal of repeated online attacks in recent years, involving false or misleading information that the company says that it has damaged its brand image, interrupted the market order and influenced the largest automotive sector.

Although Byd refers to these accidents as “organized” or “coordinated”, it has yet to present public tests in support of these statements. The company has also mentioned several legal judgments as examples of its efforts to combat defamation. In one case, a Weibo user was ordered to apologize publicly and pay 100,000 yuan for accused byd of using influencers of smearing rivals. A Wechat video account had to face similar sanctions to insult the company and its managers.

Other reports on WeChat and Douyin were also judged to have made false statements about product safety, with consequent fines. In the meantime, individual users have faced police penalties, administrative detention or criminal investigations in progress for the spread of not verified or defamatory declarations on the financial stability of Byd and on the safety of vehicles.

Byd said more legal actions are still ongoing on similar cases. While some judicial judgments have supported the requests of the company, other investigations are underway.
