BNP in talks to buy Mercedes’ Athlon, Etbrandequity

BNP Paribas Sa is in advanced talks to acquire the leasing unit of the Mercedes-Benz Athlon group, according to people who are familiar with the matter. The agreement could enhance the company about 1 billion in Inr ($ 1.2 billion), said one of the people, asking not to be identified. The resolutions are still ongoing and there is no certainty that will lead to a transaction, people said. Other parties have also expressed interest and another buyer may still emerge.

The representatives of BNP and Mercedes refused to comment.
