Other packing cubes that we have tried
Goruck Packing Cube for $ 25 (for 1, 10l flat): I loved the size of 15 x 10 x 3 inches that I tested on this robust nylon cube from 200 more to more with a front part. It adapted to almost everything I needed for every occasion, with a comfortable transport handle and an American flag patch Goruck in the front row on the front. However, they are expensive and, unless you need them to combine your Goruck equipment, there is nothing in them that stands out above cubes at comparable prices.
Basic notions on Amazon for $ 16 (set of 4): This packet of four cubes with robust shirt windows and fabric similar to a ripstop was comparable to the quality of the brands four times the price. However, Bagsmart cubes had the same price and even more robust, so they just eliminated them for the highest budget slot.
Away The Insider Packing Cubes for $ 45 (set of 4): I like that these arrive in 10 trendy colors, many of which combine Away’s luggage. However, after having tested over 20 different brands and types at various prices, these cubes have not distinguished themselves. The material was very thin and was indistinguishable from those of some of Amazon’s cheapest brands and the hinges were small.
Shacke Pak cubic packaging for $ 25 (set of 6): They were enough of good quality for an Amazon brand; There is a robust handle and the material is slightly more often than other packaging cubes at this price. I like the Mesh mix for breathability and opaque fabric for privacy. They are available in nine colors, but the colors are bright clownishly and the four panel mesh design reminds me of a jock strap. Shacke says he uses Ykk hinges on all his packaging cubes, but I reproached the cable that covers the zipper and I could not find a ykk chases anywhere.
Gorilla packaging cubes for $ 22 (set of 8): These were the less expensive packaging cubes that I tested and, unfortunately, showed. The material was very thin and the hinges were extravagant. I like that they come with a bag for shoes and linen, however, and when it is not used they bend rather small. They are available in a wide range of colors, with a nice shirt window without being totally transparent. Handwash only.
Other travel accessories we like
Courtesy of Calpak
Calpak luka zipper passport portfolio for $ 35: Whether you are traveling internationally or simply neglected to update the driving license before the expiry for the real ID of the United States (guilty), a passport wallet is a must. This elegant and swollen number of Calpak contains not only the passport, but the cash, the cards and even the phone in the pocket on the front. The only negative side is that it is quite large, about the size of a book in contemporary paperback and does not have a handle or cycle, so it is embarrassing to transport if you don’t have a large enough bag to host it.
Gorilla grip bagwaging surrounds for $ 15 (set of 4): If you tend to travel with the check -down bag with a hard side while it is expanded, you may have noticed the lack of structure in some way alarming. Both hard sides contain their laps with laps, which move while they are connected only by a zip in thin fabric. I rely on these straps to keep my suitcase together preasktily when launched by the staircase on the transporter’s belt or launched on the asphalt. And as a bonus, the bright color (the company has nine to choose from) makes the bag easy to identify on the carousel of the luggage complaint.
Kussi travel jewelry organizer for $ 49 (medium): I don’t know how I lived so long just throwing vulgar jewels into a grooming bag, but I don’t recommend it unless you want to spend your first night on vacation in necklaces. For the maximum of the organization for space saving, it is not possible to overcome this suspended model that bends to be perfectly flat. The medium -sized size has three levels of hinge with zipper with soft PVC stop for rings of earrings, bracelets, watches and anything else you need, as well as an elegant support for necklace with rings and snaps. The large dimensions have the same, but with the double of the sections. If closed, it folds on the size of an iPad.

As I tested
I have tested grooming bags and adjacent accessories in the last seven months, using them every day in my bathroom and bringing them traveling every few months. For the initial test round for cubic packaging, I inspected every cube or cubic sets for functionality and materials. I tested how much the zippers opened and closed and how easy it was to use any compression function. I packed various cubes with voluminous sweatshirts and suit pants to see how many pieces I could insert in the larger cube. So, at the end of the test period, I packed a cube from each set in three suitcases and brought them to a background journey of a week, evaluating how easy they would have been easy to do the suitcases or unimalposed, or if something annoyed me or my family in the middle of the stress and unpredictability of travel.
Why not only use a zip closure bag?
This is the question I see most from the suspicious travelers of using packaging cubes. The bags with zip closure are cheap and you can see everything inside. Why should one spend $ 25 or even $ 100 for a set of packing cubes when a box of 2.5 galloni bags costs $ 5? It is a valid question, and the one I decided to investigate by preparing a pair of heavy slips from slipping together with my packaging cubes for a week’s trip. I discovered some things.
• The packing cubes are breathable. This is particularly useful on returning home when most or all your linen is dirty. If your clothes smell of anything, of everything, you will be hit in the face with that smell after being sitting in a hermetic plastic bag.
• The packing cubes are durable. Unlike a plastic bag, cubic packaging will not tear, burst or develop unexpected holes.
• (Some) Packaging cubes are compressible. Can you mount the five -day trousers and shirts in a plastic bag? Probably not. But you can definitely in a compressible packaging cube, like some of the options above.
