Asian Wrestling Championships 2025: Indian wrestlers won a total of 10 medals in the Asian Wrestling Championship 2025 held in Jordan, Amman. On the last day, Olympin Deepak Poonia captured Silver.

New Delhi. Indian wrestler will return to India with 10 medals from Amman’s Jordan. This includes a gold that was won by female wrestler Manisha Bhanwala. On the last day of the Asian Wrestling Championship, Deepak Poonia won the silver medal for the third time while Udit had to be content with the second place for the second consecutive time. Poonia, who failed to qualify for the Paris Olympics, returned with a win against Beckjat Rakhimov in a 92 kg category tight match. Poonia got a tough fight with Kyrgyzstan rival but managed to win 12-7 in the quarter-finals.

Deepak Punia was expected to get a tough challenge from Japan’s Takashi Ishiguro, but the Indian wrestler easily defeated him 8–1. Iran’s number one player Amirhusain B Ferozporbandi defeated him with technical superiority in the gold medal. Poonia has won four medals in the Asian Championships. He lost in the finals in Almaty in 2021 and Ullanbottore in 2022 while winning bronze medals in 2019 and 2020.

Udit also defeated Chinese Vanhao Zhou 2–0 after defeating Backbolot Mirzanzar Ulu of Kyrgyzstan in 61 kg. He won the silver medal last year. He was defeated by world number one wrestler Takara Suda 6-4 in the gold medal match. Mukul Dahiya of India also made it to the semi -finals with two wins. Singapore’s Veng Luen Gary Chow was defeated by Dahiya 3–1 after defeating Kyrgyzistan’s second number Muhammad Abdullav after defeating the technical efficiency without losing the points.

In the semi -finals, Dahiya, however, suffered a defeat against Iran’s third -ranked player Abulafjal Y Rahmani Firoujai on the basis of technical efficiency. He was defeated 4–2 by Tatsuya Shirai of Japan in the playoff match of the bronze medal. Dinesh also reached the semi -finals of heavyweight 125 kg category. The Indian wrestler defeated Chinese Buhirdun on the basis of technical efficiency in the quarter-finals but lost 1-5 against Lakhgavagerel Munkhatur of Mongolia in the semi-finals. Dinesh defeated Saparov Jade of Turkmenistan 14–12 in the bronze medal playoff match. However, Jaideep Ahlawat (74 kg) suffered a 5–10 defeat against Hikaru Takata of Japan in his opening match.
