As the IA is helping children find the right college

After Julia Dixon He graduated from the University of Michigan in 2014, his family and friends asked for his help with the college candidacy process. Dixon was happy to share his recently earned experience on the world of higher education, but soon realized how many parents and students of his community needed help and how difficult it was to access that support.

The relationship between university consultants and students in the United States, according to the American School Counselor AssociationIt is one for every 376 students. Many students do not have adequate access to a university consultant to help them with admissions or choices such as schools and study areas could better adapt to them. Taking a private university consultant is an option, but this can cost thousands of dollars.

In 2023, founded Dixon ExemptionA platform fueled by artificial intelligence designed to help students at the college admission process. It also publishes videos on Tiktok on college planning and talks about how artificial intelligence tools can be supported by children who do not know what their career options are. Access to the platform AI begins at about $ 21 per month, much less than private advice.

The right fit

Esai uses a corresponding algorithm, says Dixon, to help students understand all the factors who go to choose a school.

First of all, Esai directs the students to a “major mentor” and then to the school matchmaker. These tools evaluate things like the future objectives of the students, their sociability, the size of the class in which they thrive and if they want to live near the campus. The results are highly customized.

“Many children come to us when they apply more actively to school,” says Dixon. They could know where they want to apply and only need help to write their admission essays or strengthen their applications. “Our university essay of support and quantification of the calculator helps children to quantify the impact from the activities they have already carried out,” he says. For example, if a student spends a lot of time to be a babysitter to smaller brothers, the software can help them quantify that time as a construction of leadership skills and so that they can put it on their application as a learned skill.

Spend wisely

While finding the right school and the eldest are the head for most families, as well as the cost of higher education. “A huge piece is the financial side,” says Dixon. “How can we weigh the options for lessons in a state compared to the state outside the state? How do we look at scholarships that can integrate you?” The Esai scholarship tool corresponds to a student’s hobbies and interests, as well as their demographic data and the financial situation to combine them with the best scholarship options. For example, there are scholarships available for first generation American students or for women interested in Stem: science, technology, engineering and mathematics programs.

Jon Carson started the University orientation networkA consultancy platform based on artificial intelligence, when her son was in the second year in high school. So, Carson was unable to make an appointment with the school consultant and there were few resources specifically for the parents.

The conversations that families have on college – to which they apply, to which they can afford – typically subsequent after hours, says Carson. “We are talking to our children at night, on the weekend and during the holidays, because during the day I am in the history class and we are at work. Well, the consultants are out of the building at night, on the weekend and during the holidays. It is an unfortunate discrepancy.”
