Between the visual redesign and some exciting professional features, there is something for everyone in macOS 26 Tahoe, including one that the Mac nerds will adverse absolutely.
Also make sure to take a look at the complete roundup of everything Apple has announced at WWDC 2025.
Liquid glass
Some time has passed since Apple introduced a visual renewal in such a broad way. Liquid Glass is what Apple calls the visual motif of his next era in the design of the software.
Tagged with soft transparency and thin gradients, the design similar to glass appears in almost all the interfaces, including the menu bar, the lock screen, the app icons and the side bars in the apps. From what I have seen so far, it is a nice change, even if some designers have concerns on how it could interfere with the basic functionality. The aesthetic changes to macOS have not been as drastic as the one that iOS has passed, but this seems to be a new hand of well -appreciated paint.
There are some smaller design changes, such as the possibility of changing the color of the folders or adding them an EMOJI. The control center, located above in the menu bar, was also made completely transparent. Even more important, Apple has added tons more customization so that you can add multiple quick settings to change. You can also add specific settings in apps commonly used such as zoom.
MacOS TAHOE also brings a modification of the design that arrived at iPhone last year: icon tint, which applies a unified look to all icons at the same time. Honestly, I am surprised that this arrives at Macos, because it has not been well welcomed by the reviewers.
Update of the main spotlight
This is the characteristic I am most enthusiastic about. The spotlight search tool has always been one of my favorite macOS features and I waited for Apple to bring this popular feature to the next level. It is smarter on almost all levels, quickly offering apps, documents or even the chronology of the notes. But this update is much more than that.
First of all, Spotlight can now perform system actions and even in-app actions, such as playing a podcast or starting a recording. You can even fill in parameters like who you are sending an e -mail, again, right in the spotlight!
But wait, there is more. There are also quick keys that you can use to further accelerate things. Type “SM” to send a message or “AR” to create a reminder. Think of the key control controls with these. You can also set your quick keys, really expanding the skills and customization. For example, it is possible to set quick keys to take actions within an app you are using, allowing you to quickly set up an activity from the keyboard. It is for Mac buckets there that they are already knowing any other key command and I can’t wait to try it.
Shortcuts powered by the AI
The shortcuts can be a really powerful way to automate the activities on your Mac. With macOS Tahoe, these are updated by Apple Intelligence, allowing you to set shortcuts such as summarizing the text or generating images. You can also draw chatgpt (or neural engine on the device) if necessary, creating actions chains that could be potentially extremely useful. For example, it is possible to create a connection that compares the notes of the text in the notes from a lesson to an audio transcription and therefore summarize the differences using Apple Intelligence.
