Ananya Rai: Revatipur’s daughter proud India in international volleyball

Ghazipur: The story of Ananya Rai, who has come out of the small village of Revatipur in the district and illuminated the name of India in international volleyball, is no less than an inspiration. Born on 21 July 1998, Ananya’s early education was held in Rudrapur. His father Rajesh Rai is a teacher and mother Kanchan Devi is a housewife. Ananya, who was interested in sports since childhood, was always encouraged by her father. The first major selection of Ananya, who always topped the race, was held at Veer Bahadur Singh Sports College, Gorakhpur, from where her professional career started.

In 2014, Ananya first got an opportunity to wear the Indian women’s volleyball team jersey when she represented India at the Youth Asian Championships in Thailand. This was the moment when people used to tighten in the village, “What is the work of girls in the game?” But his parents never allowed his encouragement to be reduced. Later, he waved India in many international matches including the Under-19 BRICS Games, Africa, Brazil and Russia in China.

There is a time in every player’s life when he suspects himself. This period for Ananya came when she became a victim of ligament injury. It felt that the game would be over now, but they took it as a challenge. She says, “Every player has to face injuries, politics and struggle. But the one who can overcome all this becomes the real winner.” Today, Ananya gives a message to the girls of the village that now the era went, when the girls were called Abla. She says, “Think your career yourself, understand and move on that path.”
