Alibaba Group announced on Wednesday the launch of Qwen3-Coder, an open source artificial intelligence model for the development of the software that the Chinese e-commerce giant has described as its most advanced coding tool to date. The launch comes in the middle of the competition intensified among Chinese technological companies in the global development race of the AI, with companies of both Pacific sides that release increasingly sophisticated models. QWen3-Coder is designed for software development activities such as the generation of code and the management of complex coding work flows, Alibaba said in a note.
The company has positioned the model particularly strong in the “coding activities to the agent” – automated processes in which artificial intelligence systems can work independently on the programming challenges. According to the performance data issued by Alibaba, the QWEN3 Coder overperformed domestic competitors, including the models of Deepsek and K2 of Moonshot Ai in the key coding skills.
The company also stated that its model corresponded to the performance of the main US models, including Claude of Anthropic and Openi’s GPT-4 in some areas.
