Korba. Korba’s promising kickboxing player Akash Gurudivan has brightened the country’s name by performing brilliantly in the Kickboxing World Cup held in Jesello, Italy. This prestigious tournament, which lasted from 5 to 10 March 2025, was organized under the aegis of the World Association of Kickboxing Organization (Wako) and Italian Kickboxing Federation.

2693 players from 418 teams from all over the world participated in this event. Akash Gurudivan, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports Government of India were part of the 9 -member team of Wako India Kickboxing Federation, which had gone to Italy to compete in various weight classes.

Akash made it to the finals in the 91 kg full contact event on the basis of qualification, where he faced Saferov Fazalidin in Kazakhstan. Saferov Fazalidin is the number 8 player in the world rankings, which increased the seriousness of the match even more.

However, Akash performed brilliantly throughout the tournament. He traveled to the finals, making his talent iron. He got a tough competition in the final from the Kazakistani player, but Akash did not give up and showed his power till the end.

Akash Gurudivan has also demonstrated his talent at the national and international level earlier. He has increased the pride of the country by participating in Asian and world class competitions held in South Korea, Nepal and Dublin Ireland. Akash was selected on the basis of his outstanding performance in the Senior National Competition 2024 and the fourth Indian Open International Competition.
