Bharti Airtel Chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal has welcomed the satellite broadband services of Allen Musk’s company Starlink in India. Sunil Bharti Mittal said in an exclusive conversation with CNBC Awaaz that it is very important to get satellite services in remote areas of India. He further said in this conversation that India is a very big market. Every satellite company should serve in India.
After the formation of the regulatory framework, all companies will come forward for this work. Satellite services are needed in villages, Himalayan areas and remote areas. Airtel will also play a big role in providing satellite service. Customers should also get the option to choose the service provider of their choice.
Let us tell that Bharti Airtel, a telecom company led by Sunil Mittal, announced Alan Musk’s partnership with SpaceX to provide Starlink’s high-speed satellite internet services to Airtel customers in India in March. This partnership is subject to regulatory approval required for the functioning of Starlinks in India. Through this agreement, Bharti Airtel will be able to compete with Jio Space Technology Limited, owned by Mukesh Ambani.
Under this agreement, Airtel will provide starlink equipment through its retail stores and provide starlink services to commercial customers. Airtel has said in a statement that both companies will also find opportunities to connect underprivileged communities, schools and health care centers in rural areas of India.
